Children’s Hospital construction to temporarily close portions of 4th floor

As Penn State Health Children’s Hospital adds three new floors throughout 2019, the work will require the temporary closure of patient rooms and space on the fourth floor.

Crews will complete the work in phases to minimize the disruption as they add new connections for waste and vent piping to the new floors above. Click here for a schedule.

The teams will begin in the center support area on March 4. Once they finish there – around May 20 – work in the patient rooms will begin. No more than two patient rooms will be affected or out of service at any given time, and the project team will coordinate the room closures with patient logistics.

The contractor will work Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Work is slated for completion on Sept. 5.

An interim life safety plan will be posted any time exits from the building might be blocked by construction barriers.
