College of Medicine students at University Park help patients vote on Election Day

On Election Day, Penn State College of Medicine students at University Park went above and beyond to help hospitalized patients make their voices heard.

By organizing the collection and delivery of emergency absentee ballots, they ensured that patients at Mount Nittany Medical Center could still exercise their right to vote, despite unexpected health challenges.

“The feedback we received was incredible, and the support we received from Mount Nittany staff who were contacting us on behalf of patients was amazing,” said Madalyn Fernbach, second-year medical student and program organizer. “Overall, our patients were shocked that our team would take the time to do this for them. But we all collectively agreed on a central mission: Your voice matters.”

The students hope to continue the Mount Nittany Votes program for future elections.
