Moser receives Pressman Award from Pennsylvania chapter of American College of Physicians
Dr. Eileen Moser, professor of medicine and associate dean for medical education at Penn State College of Medicine, was named as this year’s Pressman Award recipient by the Pennsylvania chapter of the American College of Physicians (PA-ACP).
According to the PA-ACP, the Pressman Award for Distinguished Service to Internal Medicine is given each year to an internist within the state who best demonstrates their commitment to their patients and community as a practicing physician and as a leader within organized medicine. The award also recognizes physicians who are advocates for their patients and who demonstrate exceptional dedication to the internal medicine specialty. The PA-ACP introduced the award in 1994 in honor of Dr. Robert Pressman, Moser explained, who was a leader in advocacy and care of his patients.
Internists within the state, Moser noted, have made outstanding contributions to improve their patients’ and communities’ health. To be recognized by a group like the PA-ACP, which she said is filled with hardworking, prestigious and experienced internists, was truly humbling.
“Together, we each do our part the best we can and sometimes we receive a surprising and touching recognition,” Moser said. “The award is a high honor from the PA-ACP; all three regions, including Eastern, Southeastern and Western chapters, need to come together to decide on the one awardee. As best that I can interpret, I am the first internist from Penn State Health to receive this award – so this is good for Penn State, too.”
