Hershey Medical Center Emergency Department changes due to expansion project start today

Several changes to the Emergency Department parking lot entrance and areas inside the department at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center began today, Thursday, June 6, as phase 2 of the expansion project continues.
Exterior:
- The ED parking lot entrance and parking coordinator have moved.
- Walk-in patients and ambulance traffic are being directed to separate lots.
- The temporary ambulance entrance is now open.
Interior:
- The new ED expansion area and existing ED are now connected through the trauma corridor.
Other areas:
- Stairwells 8, 10, 18 and 20 and the ED Observation exterior door should only be used as emergency exits.
- The entrance to Stairwell 20 from the east Crescent exterior is closed.
- The former ambulance entrance is closed. Access to the decontamination shower from the inside will remain.
