Emergency management: Be prepared in 2023

Penn State Health employees should be prepared for any emergency in 2023. The Department of Emergency Management and Business Continuity highlights an essential tool to help employees be ready for any disruptive event ─ Penn State Health Alerts.
Be reachable with Penn State Health Alerts
Penn State Health Alerts is the primary emergency notification system for the organization. It provides urgent notifications about security-related incidents, severe weather, incidents in the community where we play a role, infrastructure or technology failures, and closures or cancellations, among other incidents. All faculty, staff and students are automatically enrolled in Penn State Health Alerts with their work or student contact information as listed in the Unified Directory. However, work email, pager or voice systems may not be the best way to share critical information in a time of emergency. Make sure to:
- Visit the Penn State Health Alerts member portal to add alternative contact information like your cell phone number and personal email address.
- Add your work location or locations by address to your member portal.
- Download the Everbridge app on your Apple or Android phone. Duo Mobile two-factor authentication must be enabled for the app to work on a phone. The app is a good option for those with limited network coverage or who rely on their mobile device for communication during work hours, such as individuals who are not often at a desk or do not have a pager.
