Employee COVID-19 booster shots now available

Penn State Health is ready to provide COVID-19 boosters to employees who want them. Clinics start at various locations across the system next week, and employees can sign up using the link provided below.

Earlier this week, the Pennsylvania Department of Health authorized health care providers to begin offering boosters of the Comirnaty Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine to people who received their second dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine at least six months ago, based on these recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention:

  • People 65 years and older and residents in long-term care settingsshould receive a booster of the Pfizer-BioNTech Vx
  • People aged 50–64 years with underlying medical conditionsshould receive a booster of the Pfizer-BioNTech Vx
  • People aged 18–49 years with underlying medical conditionsmay receive a booster of the Pfizer-BioNTech Vx, based on their individual benefits and risks
  • People aged 18-64 years who are at increased risk for COVID-19 exposure and transmission because of occupational or institutional settingmay receive a booster shot of the Pfizer-BioNTech Vx, based on their individual benefits and risks

Note: There are currently no recommendations for booster shots for those who received either the Moderna or the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines.

Penn State Health or Penn State College of Medicine employees who meet the above criteria and want to receive a COVID-19 booster shot from Penn State Health should:

  • See all available locations for Pfizer COVID-19 booster shots and sign up for an appointment here.
  • Look for an email from Penn State Health ReadySet after signing up for an appointment and complete the ReadySet health survey and consent forms for the Pfizer COVID-19 booster shot.

Based on vaccine supply and available vaccination staffing, employees may be able to receive their flu shot and COVID-19 booster shot at the same time.
