Library launches experimental classroom
A new experimental teaching space is available for instruction at Penn State College of Medicine. The Experimental Classroom (Room C2609D, located above Harrell Health Sciences Library, near the Simulation Lab) is a partnership between the College of Medicine and the library to create an innovative teaching space for educators to explore new teaching techniques such as active learning and flipped classroom.
Instructors can use this room to take their teaching to the next level. The Experimental Classroom is available to be reserved for free through the Harrell Health Sciences Library website.
Room C2609D features:
- Seating for 24 learners
- Four small-group tables with 60-inch computer monitors
- Ability for groups to work independently on their computers or for the instructor to take control of all displays and share one group’s screen or their own screen
- Flexible seating and tables based on group needs
- Four virtual-reality headsets for shared team virtual-reality sessions
- Mersive Solstice software for participants to wirelessly share information from their personal devices to the screen displays
- Zoom software and adjustable camera for remote class interactions
Support and training are available, and can be requested on the form when reserving the room, or by contacting librarytech@pennstatehealth.psu.edu. Regular overview and training sessions are held in C2609D. Find details on these sessions on the library website.
