FaceAge multimedia exhibit will challenge perspectives

The Doctors Kienle Center for Humanistic Medicine and the Department of Humanities are hosting a showing of FaceAge in Bay C of the Penn State Simulation Center, on the second-floor above the Harrell Health Sciences Library. FaceAge, created by Professor Andrew Belser, a 2017-18 Penn State Laureate, is an award-winning multimedia installation created from filmed cross-generational encounters. The installation places audiences within a synchronized, three-screen surround where younger (18 to 22 years old) and older (70 or older) participants are seen studying and describing one another’s faces. A 56-minute loop of moving and still imagery weaves together interconnected chapters in which young adults and aging individuals reflect on life. FaceAge attempts to challenge perceptions, foster introspection, and build acceptance, awareness and cross-generational connections.

Viewing hours for Penn State Health and College of Medicine students and employees with ID badge are at any time noon Oct. 5 to 3 p.m. Oct. 10. For the general public, hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 8 and 9 and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 10. The presentation is free, and no registration is required.
