Family Readiness Group supports deployed service members and their families

The new Family Readiness Group (FRG) offers resources for Penn State Health employees who are called to active-duty military service and for employees whose family members are deployed. The group is sponsored by the Penn State Health Military and Veterans Business Employee Resource Group.

The FRG is a network of Penn State Health employees who support deployed service members and their families during a critical transition period. They work as a team to:

  • Connect employees to appropriate Penn State Health and community benefits
  • Identify needs at the service member’s home
  • Send care packages to deployed service members
  • Offer a peer support network to ease the transition to and from deployment

The goal of the FRG is to reduce stress on service members and their families and provide friendly, reliable support during a challenging time. This support can help service members stay safer during their deployment and families cope with separation.

To request support or volunteer to provide support, send a message to military_and_veteran_berg@pennstatehealth.psu.edu.

If you’d like to volunteer, share which activities you’re most interested in. The organizers will try to match volunteers’ interests with available opportunities.
