Fitness Challenge promotes staying active through holidays
Well-Being Week, Oct. 22-26, kicks off a campus and communitywide Fitness Challenge that continues through the holiday season. Penn State Health employees and Penn State College of Medicine faculty, staff and students are invited to participate from Oct. 29 through Dec. 31.
The challenge is to accumulate 150 minutes or more of exercise every week, have fun, and stay committed to being physically active through the holidays.
“While the holidays are a busy time, you still need to make time to take care of yourself,” said Justin Wilson, an athletic trainer at the University Fitness Center (UFC).
Participants can do any type of exercise they prefer. They will use the MapMyFitness app to track their progress. Fitness Challenge participants should create an account in the MapMyFitness app and send a friend request to the PennState UFC account. Participants may also follow other participants as a way of keeping each other accountable during the challenge.
Contact Sarah Hartman or John Drop, both UFC exercise physiologists.
