Flahive receives Lancaster Medical Center’s DAISY Award

Lancaster Medical Center presented its third-quarter DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune System) Award for Extraordinary Nurses to Anna Flahive, a registered nurse in the 5 North Medical-Surgical Unit.
A patient admitted with pancreatitis nominated Flahive for providing exceptional, responsive and respectful care to her throughout her stay, which ended up including surgery. The patient, who wrote in her DAISY nomination that Ann “truly was one of the best nurses I ever had,” praised her for her patience, compassion and kindness.
“Anna was at my side within minutes of the next dose of pain medicine to get me through the long hours and days,” the patient said. “She advocated for me and provided wonderful care each day I was in her assignment.”
The patient also praised Flahive for the kindness and encouragement she heard her giving other patients in the unit and her interactions with visitors as well as other patients.
Ten nurses at Lancaster Medical Centerwere nominated for the third-quarter DAISY award in recognition of their skillful, compassionate care and their daily support of patients and families.
