Gingrich recognized for Exceptional Moments in Teaching
Dr. Dennis Gingrich, professor of Family and Community Medicine and Humanities, is featured for December in the “Exceptional Moments in Teaching” program.
“Dr. Gingrich was an excellent role model and educator,” wrote one current student. “He took the time with every patient to help them learn how to better their health and conquer their disease. He spent a considerable amount of time with students helping them improve in individual ways and become excellent student-doctors. He provided fantastic feedback and wanted students to improve and flourish. He was a fantastic attending physician and educator, and I greatly enjoyed working with him.”
Gingrich grew up in Hershey, attended medical school at Penn State, and has served on the faculty for 34 years. Over that time he has taught, coached, advised and mentored both students and residents, and coordinated Continuing Medical Education programming for physicians.
He has also served on curriculum committees at the med school and university level, and has been named Distinguished Educator by Penn State and Exemplary Teacher by the American Academy of Family Physicians.
Students call him Dr. G.
