Heart Walk events raise more than $9,500 ahead of State College walk Oct. 16

Penn State Health employees showed their support for heart health by participating in this year’s Heart Walk events. So far, employees and teams representing the health system have raised $9,532.

On City Island in Harrisburg, 31 walkers in six teams represented Penn State Health in the American Heart Association (AHA) Capital Region Heart Walk on Sept. 19. They raised $5,152 total, making Penn State Health one of the top-five fundraising companies. The “We Are Penn State Heart and Vascular Institute” team raised $3,040.32, the fourth-highest team amount.

At Grange Park in Allentown, 61 walkers in five teams represented Penn State Health in the AHA Greater Lehigh Valley and Berks County Heart Walk on Sept. 16. They raised $4,380, making Penn State Health the third-highest company fundraiser. James Bennett’s “Jimmy Jam’s Super Slam Stepping Crew” was the second-highest fundraising team, raising $1,499.29.

Employees still have time to walk and raise money for heart health. The AHA Central PA Heart Walk is set for Saturday, Oct. 16 in State College. Email Michael Murray, senior director, Ambulatory Services, at mmurray11@pennstatehealth.psu.edu to sign up as an individual or a team.
