Hershey Medical Center designates more safe break spaces

Starting Monday, Nov. 23, Hershey Medical Center employees will have three additional safe break spaces.

These spaces can accommodate a total of 17 employees.

Additionally, three rooms in the University Physician Center on the Hershey campus have been designated as spaces for breaks and meals:

  • The Dermatology conference room (UPC 4200), accommodating up to six people, available from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • The Health Information Management room, accommodating up to six people, available from 11 a.m. to 1 pm.
  • University Physician Center 1010 Conference Room, accommodating up to nine people, available from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The new break rooms are the second part of a plan to make additional safe space available for employees to take breaks. Phase one started Nov. 9, and included four new break spaces that can accommodate a total of 30 employees.

Employees should follow room-occupancy and social-distancing requirements of six feet or more. They also should wear masks when they are not eating and drinking ― for example, visiting with colleagues, talking on the phone or reading. This applies in common dining spaces as well.

All safety and cleaning protocols are in place for these break spaces.

Leaders continue to evaluate and identify additional spaces in the College of Medicine and will include them in future phases.

Here are additional rooms available as safe break spaces and the maximum number of people each can accommodate:

  • Lobby area outside T2500, four people
  • Cancer Institute, 3rd floor lobby, eight people
  • Cancer Institute, 4th floor lobby, eight people
  • Conference room H1021, 10 people
  • Conference room T4007, seven people
  • Conference room T3007, seven people
  • Conference room T3035, three people
