Hershey Medical Center names Lancaster December DAISY Award winner

Hershey Medical Center presented the December DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune System) Award to Ian Lancaster, a nurse in the Medical Intermediate Care Unit.
The accolade recognizes nurses for their skillful, compassionate care and their daily support of patients and families.
“I’m writing to inform you of the excellent care my sister received from Ian Lancaster during her stay at the hospital,” Lancaster’s nominators wrote. “She had many great nurses and aides but Ian was exceptional. He was very caring and very thorough. He seemed to go above and beyond in assuring her comfort and care. Employees like this should be recognized for their exceptional work ethics. We can’t say enough good things about Ian.”
DAISY Award Mission
The DAISY Award was created in memory of Patrick Barnes who died at age 33 of complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura. The DAISY Foundation was established by his family to keep his spirit alive. Its primary mission is to express gratitude to nurses for the work they do for patients and their families every day.
