  • April 2023: Neerav Goyal, Department of Otolaryngology head and neck surgery associate professor, vice chair for quality and safety, and division chief for Head and Neck Surgery and Oncology

Crook’s nominators say she serves as a role model for others by demonstrating respect and a team-oriented mindset. Her work enhances the overall quality of patient care and contributes to a positive work environment, nominators say, adding that she understands the value of a patient-centered approach. She works closely with other team members to integrate perspectives, expertise and skills to prioritize the needs of the patients.

Crook has received several grants and contracts focused on developing interactive clinical infectious diseases curriculum and providing primary care to underserved HIV-infected patients in urban and rural areas in southcentral Pennsylvania. In addition, she has made notable contributions to the literature through her publishing on topics like ambulatory medicine, improving outcomes in patients with sepsis and hypertension and HIV.

Goyal’s colleagues say that he is an accomplished surgeon and physician who involves his patients in the decision-making process, creates a trusting environment and considers their preferences and values when developing treatment plans. He is proactive in ensuring that clinic processes are current and efficient in order to enhance patient experience and increase productivity. As an advocate for his multidisciplinary team, Goyal acknowledges unique skills or perspectives and fosters an environment of mutual respect.
