Highmark Walk for Healthy Community set to raise funds

Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and Penn State College of Medicine employees and students are invited to join the 2019 Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community Harrisburg on Saturday, May 18 at Harrisburg Area Community College.
The 5K event provides funds to Penn State Health and College of Medicine efforts such as the Cancer Genetics Program, pulmonary research, the Bladder Cancer Support Group and head and neck cancer research. Registration opens at noon on Friday, Feb. 1.
For the seventh year in a row, the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and the College of Medicine will be among 48 participating health and human services organizations. Last year, 22 teams and 232 walkers raised more than $51,000. Last year’s first-place team raised more than $11,000.
Walkers and teams choose where to allocate their funds, and are invited to send emails, post on social media and hold fundraising events to raise money. The money is sent to the selected programs in June.
A Highmark Walk kickoff event will be from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 5, in T2500. Contact Megan Weber in the Office of Development and Alumni Relations at 717-531-0003, x283308, for details.
