Holy Spirit Medical Center names Hileman, Tantillo April Shining Star Award winners
Holy Spirit Medical Center recognized Denean Hileman, an operating room nurse anesthetist, and Kathleen “Kathy” Tantillo, Environmental Services attendant, as the Shining Star Award winners for April.
In her nomination letter, Shaina Vernitsky, nurse anesthetist, wrote, “Denean goes above and beyond making sure equipment is clean and safe. She assisted the operating room staff in wiping down rooms to increase productivity and decrease turnover time.”
Vittoria Paulus, a registered nurse in the Emergency Services Department, nominated Tantillo. Paulus said, “Kathy is an extraordinary teammate. Every day she goes above and beyond by assisting me with simple activities.” Paulus explained that Tantillo had recently prepared the unit ahead of time by calling for a clean mattress and requesting that a soiled floor be cleaned.
The Holy Spirit Medical Center Patient and Guest Experience Department established the Shining Star Award in late 2022, to recognize environmental services and clinical staff who go above and beyond to maintain cleanliness in patient care areas.
Staff members can nominate colleagues who prioritize cleanliness to continuously improve the quality of patient care and their coworkers’ experiences.
Holy Spirit Medical Center honored the following employees earlier this year:
- February Shining Star Award winners ― Kimberly Burkett, registered nurse, Inpatient Behavioral Health, and Linda Scott, attendant, Environmental Services
- March Shining Star Award winners ― Madison McDonald, registered nurse, Medical Surgical 3, and Frollyn Cedeno, attendant, Environmental Services
“A clean and organized environment is critical to patient experience and patient and staff safety,” said Kyle Snyder, senior vice president and regional chief operating officer, Hampden Medical Center and Holy Spirit Medical Center. “Our clinical and non-clinical teams share the responsibility to ensure we are meeting the highest standards and creating the best environment to deliver quality health care.”
