Holy Spirit Medical Center names Kralic and Tantillo May Shining Star Award recipients

Penn State Health Holy Spirit Medical Center recognized Jon Kralic, a registered nurse in its Behavioral Health Unit, and Kathleen “Kathy” Tantillo, an Environmental Services attendant, as the May Shining Star Award winners.

Holy Spirit Medical Center’s Patient and Guest Experience Department established the Shining Star Award in late 2022, to recognize environmental services and clinical staff who go above and beyond to maintain cleanliness in patient care areas.

Staff members can nominate colleagues who prioritize cleanliness to continuously improve the quality of patient care and their coworkers’ experiences.

In her nomination letter, Rye Perryman, a registered nurse in the Behavioral Health unit, wrote, “Jon goes above and beyond to promote and exemplify our primary nursing model. He advocates for safe patient care by working effectively with other team members to provide for patient needs. He also is quick to act to clean spills and enter work orders when patient safety is at risk. He is an invaluable member of our team.”

Brandon Onufer, a supervisor in Security,  nominated Tantillo, who received the Shining Star award in April as well. Onufer wrote, “Kathy takes care of everything that’s needed.” He noted that Tantillo cleans the Emergency Department security office every two weeks without being asked. “She genuinely cares,” Onufer said.
