Cub Chat

The 2019 spring edition of Cub Chat, Penn State Health Children’s Hospital’s online magazine, is now available. Features include the story of two Four Diamonds children who met for the first time at Penn State’s THON 2019, a profile of social worker Aubrey Mora and the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center’s first-ever STEM Goes Red event. View the issue here.

Compass Training

Human Resources’ Center for Learning and Leadership offers professional and personal development courses from development experts, CyberU, SkillPill and TEDtalks. Hundreds of topics include time and stress management, public speaking, computer skills, interviewing tips and much more. Ahuja Joins Global Health Consortium

Nirmal Ahuja, a doctor of public health student at Penn State College of Medicine, has been selected to join the Consortium of Universities for Global Health’s Trainee Advisory Committee. In this role, he will collaborate with student groups on campus to spur discussions and activities that address emerging global health issues. Ahuja is joined by nearly two dozen students from universities worldwide who are working to improve global health-related education, research, service and advocacy.

Tisket-a-Tasket Basket Event

The annual Tisket-a-Tasket Basket Event benefits the Children’s Miracle Network at Penn State Health Children’s Hospital. Employees can purchase tickets for $1 at a variety of locations:

  • Noon-3 p.m., Monday, April 8, 30 Hope Drive, Room 1019, Entrance B
  • 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Tuesday, April 9, Academic Support Building, Room 1101
  • Noon-3 p.m., Thursday April 11, Crystal A, Room 2349 (Crystal A employees only)

Tickets will also be sold in Dining Rooms A and B of the Rotunda Café:

  • 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Monday, April 8
  • 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m., Tuesday, April 9
  • 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m., Wednesday, April 10
  • 7:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m., Thursday, April 11

Photos of each basket, along with a list of items inside each basket, when available, are provided for review.

Each ticket enters the buyer into a drawing for the basket at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 12 in Dining Rooms A and B.

SuperChef Event

Four Diamonds invites Penn State employees to attend the Central Pennsylvania SuperChef event, a food competition featuring the best fine-dining and casual fine-dining restaurants in the area:

Water System Maintenance

The Milton S. Hershey Medical Center’s water supplier, Pennsylvania American Water, will temporarily change its disinfection treatment process from a chloramine residual to a free chlorine residual from April 1 to April 24. As a result, employees might notice a chlorine taste the water.
