Resuscitation Sciences Training Center to Launch Courses

The Resuscitation Sciences Training Center is launching several nationally recognized professional development courses from the Emergency Nurses Association, National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians and American Heart Association for both Penn State Health staff and the community:

  • A Trauma Nurse core course and Emergency Pediatric Nursing course via the Emergency Nurses Association
  • Ten new courses for pre-hospital professionals from the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians, including trauma and advanced medical life support
  • An Advanced Cardiac Life Support EP course for intensive care unit and emergency department physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses and pre-hospital staff

Book Donations

Penn State Health is collecting gently used books for a book sale to benefit the United Way. Books may be dropped off until Thursday, Aug. 8 at three different locations:

  • Crystal A, Room 2320
  • Harrell Library ― south entrance
  • Biomedical Research Building, C3804

The book sale will take place:

  • Aug. 12-13
  • 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
  • Hershey Medical Center, Dining Rooms A and B

Harrisburg Area Community College to Offer Coding Program

Harrisburg Area Community College will offer evening sessions on coding at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. An information session about the course will take place on:

  • Wednesday, Aug. 14
  • 5:30 p.m.
  • Junker Auditorium, Milton S. Hershey Medical Center

The course will run for two nights a week for 12 months, including time off over the Christmas and July 4 holidays. Total cost is $3,945 per student. Penn State Health employees eligible for the tuition benefit program will be reimbursed for 85% of the base tuition upon successful completion of the program.
