Hershey Medical Center Interim CFO

Eric Strucko, Penn State’s associate vice president for finance and business, controller for Penn State College of Medicine and treasurer for Penn State Health and the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, is assuming the interim chief financial officer role for the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. Effective Dec. 1, he will temporarily serve in both capacities until a replacement is named for Paul Swinko, who will depart on Dec. 14 for a new position as corporate chief financial officer for Bassett Healthcare Network.

Documentary Not Black Enough

Filmmaker Tracey Anarella presents a humorous, brutally honest look at a pervasive phenomenon in the black community ― the ostracizing of blacks for being Not Black Enough:

Esteem Holiday Open House

Penn State Health employees and Penn State College of Medicine faculty, staff and students are invited to a holiday open house at Esteem Penn State Health Cosmetic Associates:

Got Glucose?

Dr. Jeffrey Kaiser, chief of the Division of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine at Hershey Medical Center and Kenneth V. and Eleanor M. Hatt professor of neonatal medicine, will present his inaugural Hatt Lecture, entitled “Got Glucose? It’s What’s for (a Baby’s) Dinner:”

A reception will follow in the anteroom outside the auditorium.

Fitness Challenge

Employees, faculty and students are challenged to work out for 150 minutes or more each week for the Fitness Challenge now through Dec. 31. Participants can choose any type of exercise they prefer and should use the MapMyFitness app to track their progress. Contact Sarah Hartman or John Drop, both University Fitness Center exercise physiologists, for more information.

Employee Strong Class

The University Fitness Center (UFC) will debut a new eight-week specialty class for employees in January. Employee Strong will focus on muscle strength, conditioning and injury prevention:

  • Jan. 10 to Feb. 28
  • Thursdays
  • 5-5:50 p.m.

The usual fee for this class is $80, but it will be waived for employees who attend six out of the eight classes. See details on the UFC website.

Yoga Classes

The UFC’s popular, employer-sponsored yoga classes will start again in January. This eight-week yoga class helps students learn and practice breathing techniques, yoga exercises, deep relaxation and meditation:

  • Jan. 10 to Feb. 28
  • Tuesdays
  • 5:30-6:45 p.m.

The usual fee of $140 will be waived for employees who attend six out of the eight classes. See details on the UFC website.

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction

An eight-week mindfulness-based stress reduction program is available to all Penn State Health and Penn State College of Medicine employees and students:

  • Jan. 28 to March 18
  • Mondays
  • 6-8:30 p.m.

Register by Jan. 22 by contacting Timothy Riley or Holly Socolaw. Choose an orientation date of Monday, Jan. 7 at 6 p.m. or Monday, Jan. 21 at 6 p.m.
