St. Joseph Vascular Lab Earns Reaccreditation

Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center’s Noninvasive Vascular Lab earned reaccreditation in vascular testing from the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission in January. The accreditation includes the areas of external cerebrovascular testing, peripheral venous testing and peripheral arterial testing. It certifies that St. Joseph’s Vascular Diagnostic Service has undergone an intensive application and review process and is found to be in compliance with the published standards, thus demonstrating a commitment to quality patient care in vascular testing.

Cuffee Presents at Behavioral Medicine Conference

Dr. Yendelela Cuffee, an assistant professor of Public Health Sciences at Penn State College of Medicine, will present a poster on how discrimination may impact the health and well-being of women of color at a national conference March 6-9. The presentation – “Examining Self-Reported Discrimination, Beliefs about Health Care, and Emotional Well-being among African-American Women” – is part of the Society of Behavioral Medicine’s 40th Annual Meeting and Scientific Sessions in Washington, D.C. Her research examines how experiences of discrimination might trigger physiological responses that can manifest as physical conditions.
