Community Relations Grants

The Community Relations department offers grants to programs that address priorities identified in the Community Health Needs Assessment. Applications are accepted annually from July to October and are awarded from January to December for up to $5,000 each. Priority will be given to sustainable start-up projects that will have a positive health impact on our community. Applications may also be submitted to support pre-existing programs to continue their good work. Details here.

Derry Township Water Main Work

Beginning the week of July 22, crews will install nearly 8,000 feet of water main on Route 322 (West Governor Rd.) between Lucy Ave./Bullfrog Valley Rd. and Hockersville Drive/Fishburn Road. Final paving restoration is scheduled to finish in fall 2019, weather permitting. Crews will work nightly between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. Traffic restrictions will be in place during construction. Also, during construction, customers might experience temporary water service interruptions, discolored water and/or lower than normal water pressure. More details here.

Upcoming events

United Way Trike Race

If your schedule permits, come out and support Penn State Health and Penn State College of Medicine’s team in the United Way of the Capital Region’s 23rd Annual Trike Race:

  • Friday, July 19
  • 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
  • Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center parking lot
  • 2300 N. Cameron Street, Harrisburg

The trike team will race groups from other local businesses in this friendly competition that kicks off the United Way 2019 Campaign.

Blizzard for a Good Cause

Penn State Health Children’s Hospital will sell Blizzard sundaes in the Treehouse Café:

  • Wednesday, July 24
  • 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
  • $5 per sundae while supplies last

Proceeds benefit the Children’s Hospital and Children’s Miracle Network.

Book Donations

Penn State Health is collecting gently used books for a book sale to benefit the United Way. Books may be dropped off until Thursday, Aug. 8 at three different locations:

  • Crystal A, Room 2320
  • Harrell Library ― south entrance
  • Biomedical Research Building, C3804

The book sale will take place:

  • 12-13
  • 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
  • Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Dining Rooms A and B
