Engagement Survey Open till June 24
The 2019 Employee Engagement survey is available now through June 24. Penn State Health and Penn State College of Medicine employees should have received an email from consulting firm Press Ganey inviting them to complete the confidential assessment of the organization.
Penn State Health will use the results to analyze the current state of the organizational culture related to employee engagement.
National Safety Month
The Safety Department at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center is partnering with the National Safety Council to recognize National Safety Month in June. This year’s National Safety Month is focusing on hazard recognition; slips, trips and falls; fatigue; and impairment. See tips and articles on these topics on the Safety Department Infonet site.
PTO/Vacation Donation

People
College, Health System Mourn Passing of Longtime Cardiologist
Dr. Charles Chambers, a cardiologist at Penn State Heart and Vascular Institute, director of the Cardiac Catheterization Lab and a professor of medicine and radiology, passed away on June 9. He joined Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in 1985. “Dr. Chambers’ devotion to his patients, compassion and sense of humor were incomparable, and he will be greatly missed by all those that had the good fortune to know him,” said Dr. Larry Sinoway, director of the Heart and Vascular Institute. Chambers was also president of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions from 2014-2015. A public viewing will take place on Thursday, June 13 from 5:30-8 p.m. at Hoover Funeral Home, 6011 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, June 14 at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 6150 Allentown Blvd., Harrisburg, followed by interment at Resurrection Cemetery, Harrisburg.
Swift Named Finalist in Women in Technology Impact Awards
Erika Swift, associate director of Penn State College of Medicine’s Center for Medical Innovation, was a finalist in the Technology Council of Central Pennsylvania’s 2019 Women in Technology Impact Awards. She was nominated for her work with College of Medicine researchers to facilitate the translational and commercial development of Penn State technologies and her volunteer efforts with BioStrategy Partners, a nonprofit that assists with developing and transferring academic research into the marketplace.
