PTO/Vacation Donation

Three employees have been approved for the primary Paid Time Off (PTO)/Vacation Donation Program:

Employees interested in donating their Primary PTO hours may do so by going to mySolutions, search “PTO Donation” (log-in may be required) and submit it electronically.

Compliance Training

All Penn State Health employees must complete their 2019 annual compliance training before Friday, March 29. The online Compass training ensures that employees understand the key legal, ethical and policy aspects of patient care and the importance of accurate billing.

Zagster Bikes

Zagster bikes are now out of hibernation. Membership to the bike share program is free to all Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and Penn State College of Medicine employees, faculty and students. Members can check out one of 50 bikes with their cell phones. Trips under two hours are free and $1.50 per 30 minutes after that. Visit the bike share website for details. Ten stations are available:

People

Ssentongo to Present at Global Health Conference

Anna Ssentongo, a doctor of public health student at Penn State College of Medicine, will give a poster presentation at the 2019 Global Health and Innovation Conference on April 13 and 14 at Yale University in Connecticut. Her presentation will focus on the risk factors associated with the high prevalence of HIV/AIDS among women living in Ivory Coast.

Liu Wins Outstanding Mentor Award

Dajiang Liu, associate professor of public health sciences at Penn State College of Medicine, won the 2019 Outstanding Mentor Award from the College of Medicine Postdoctoral Society. The award honors faculty members’ careers as mentors. Liu was recognized March 12 during the 17th annual Data and Dine Research Symposium at the University Conference Center.

Hershey Medical Center employees are asked to bring their mobile devices to register with the National Bone Marrow Registry:

  • Monday, March 25

Those who can’t attend should text CURE44 to 6174 or go to the website Join.BeTheMatch.org/CURE44. Adults ages 18 to 41 can register for free until Sept. 30. Adults ages 42 to 61 can still register but will need to pay a small tax-deductible fee.

Alumni Meet and Greet

Renee Donahue, a 2011 PhD from the College of Medicine in cellular and molecular biology, will be honored by the Penn State Alumni Association with the Alumni Achievement Award on March 29. She will meet with members of the Hershey campus community:

Time Talk

Susan Mohammed, professor of psychology and team science lead for the Penn State Clinical and Translational Science Institute, will discuss how teams are affected by their members’ orientation toward time and provide practical tips to minimize friction:

Coffee with Doctors

In honor of National Doctors’ Day, Penn State Health is inviting community members to have a free cup of coffee with doctors from the network:

  • Saturday, March 30
  • 8-10 a.m.
  • Two locations:
    • Cornerstone Coffeehouse, 2133 Market Street, Camp Hill
    • Grand Central Bagel Café, 245 Centerville Road, Lancaster

Patients with a story to share about Penn State Health doctors are asked to submit them to the Facebook page @pennsthershey. The stories will be shared with doctors on March 30.
