Flu Season Ends

Penn State Health called an end to the 2018-2019 flu season on May 2 after local cases of influenza declined. Scott Mincemoyer, director of infection prevention, regulatory and accreditation at Hershey Medical Center, made the announcement. 

Performance Goals due May 8

All Penn State Health employees must enter their 2019 performance goals into the Human Capital Management system by Tuesday, May 8. Goals should be specific, measurable, attainable and relevant and include a time element. All goals must be approved by a manager. For instructions, visit mySolutions. Lt. Col. Eric A. Roberge, chief of radiology at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Wash., will discuss “Crisis Management and Key Concepts of Mass Casualties” during an Emergency Preparedness Grand Rounds:

Celebrate National Nurses Week

National Nurses Week is May 6 to 12. The Rewards and Recognition Committee of Milton S. Hershey Medical Center’s Nursing Department has planned an array of events for all employees. Highlights include:

  • Kickball, May 7, 8 and 9 — 5:30-9 p.m., fields in front of the Crescent
  • Hospital Carnival, Monday, May 6 — 4-8 p.m., Treehouse Café
  • Chocolate Challenge, May 10 — 9-10 a.m., Dining Room A/B
  • Movie Night, May 10 — 6:30-9:30 p.m., Junker Auditorium

Picnics of Appreciation

Hershey Medical Center will host its annual hospitalwide picnics of appreciation for National Hospital Week:

  • Tuesday, May 7 — 11 am.-2 p.m., Biomedical Research Building courtyard
  • Tuesday, May 7 — 4-7 p.m., Biomedical Research Building courtyard
  • Thursday, May 9 — 11 p.m.-2 a.m., Rotunda Café
  • Friday, May 10 — 11 a.m.-1 pm., 30 Hope Drive patio

In the event of inclement weather, picnics scheduled for the Biomedical Research Building courtyard will move to the Rotunda Café.

Nutritional Therapy

Dr. Necole Streeper will discuss “Improving Medical and Surgical Outcomes in Urology with Nutritional Therapy”:

  • Thursday, May 16
  • Noon-1 p.m.

  • Continuing Medical Education credit available
  • Lunch provided

The talk will teach nutrition therapy for the prevention of kidney stones. It is part of the Clinical Documentation Improvement Lunch and Learn series.
