PTO/Vacation Donation

Three employees have been approved for the primary Paid Time Off (PTO)/Vacation Donation program:

  • Sarah Stigelman, Operating Room
  • Judith Zabinski, Employee Health Services
  • Alyssa Reynosa, Patient and Provider Access Services

Employees interested in donating their Primary PTO hours may do so by going to mySolutions, searching “PTO Donation” (log-in may be required) and submitting it electronically.

The Military Times Best for Vets: Employers 2019 rankings included Penn State Health. The Best for Vets distinction recognizes 100 organizations for their commitment to providing opportunities to America’s veterans.

Domen Appointed to State Board of Medicine

Dr. Ron Domen of Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center’s Department of Pathology (Laboratory Medicine) has been appointed to a four-year term on the Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine. Domen is one of six board members who regulate the practice of medicine through the licensure, registration and certification of members of the medical profession. The board regulates medical doctors, physician assistants, radiology technicians, respiratory therapists, nurse-midwives, acupuncturists, practitioners of oriental medicine, perfusionists, behavioral specialists and athletic trainers.

‘Good Day PA’ Webchat

Doctors from Penn State Health Children’s Hospital will explain how they are using 3D printing technology to mend the tiniest of hearts:

Dr. Robert Tunks and Dr. Brian Clark from the Children’s Heart Group will answer viewer questions live.

Lab Clean-Up Lecture

Research Quality Assurance, the Facilities Department and Safety and Environmental Health Services will host a lecture entitled, “Inaugural Lab Clean-Up Overview”:

The event is the monthly Research Quality Assurance Lunchtime Lecture.

Celebrate National Nurses Week

National Nurses Week continues through May 12. The Rewards and Recognition Committee of the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center’s Nursing Department is offering an array of events for all employees. Highlights include:

  • Kickball, today — 5:30-9 p.m., fields in front of the Crescent
  • Chocolate Challenge, May 10 — 9-10 a.m., Dining Room A/B
  • Movie Night, May 10 — 6:30-9:30 p.m., Junker Auditorium

Lang to Deliver Dean’s Lecture

Charles Lang, distinguished professor of cellular and molecular physiology and surgery, will deliver the annual Dean’s Lecture:

  • Tuesday, May 14
  • Noon
  • Junker Auditorium

Lang’s lecture is entitled, “Under the Influences: Mechanisms Mediating Alcohol-Inducing Muscle Wasting.”

Fauci to Speak at Commencement

Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, is the commencement speaker at Penn State College of Medicine’s graduation ceremonies:

  • Saturday, May 18
  • 1 p.m.
  • Great American Hall, The Hershey Lodge

Fauci has advised five presidents on HIV/AIDS and other domestic and global health issues. In a 2018 analysis of Google Scholar citations, he was ranked as the 26th most highly cited researcher of all time.
