Benefits Open Enrollment
The Benefits Open Enrollment period ends tomorrow (Friday). This is the one time a year that employees can make changes to their benefit elections, add or remove dependents and choose new or different coverage without experiencing a qualifying life event. Find information on all 2019 benefits at mySolutions and the Virtual Benefits Fair.
Emergency Department Entrances
The Emergency Department (ED) entrances at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center will be permanently restricted to ED patients, families and visitors of ED patients, emergency personnel and ED staff beginning Monday, Nov. 19. All other individuals should use the main hospital or north entrances to access the hospital, rather than the ED entrance.
People
McQuillan Award
Dr. Patrick M. McQuillan, vice chair of clinical affairs for the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, received the Nicholas M. Green Humanitarian award from the American Society of Anesthesiology on Oct. 15. He has provided extensive humanitarian work as a physician anesthesiologist around the world. New Associate Dean
Dr. Jennifer McCall-Hosenfeld, associate professor of medicine and public health sciences, is Penn State College of Medicine’s new associate dean for faculty and professional development. She replaces Dr. Barbara Ostrov who will become the new chair of Albany Medical College’s Department of Pediatrics.
Office of Physician and Faculty Wellness
Ron McLean has been named director of the College of Medicine’s new Office of Physician and Faculty Wellness, effective Nov. 12. The office will promote personal health, connectivity and peer support for faculty and residents. He has nearly 20 years of experience as a counselor, educator, trainer and researcher at several universities, including Hofstra and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.

Pay 4 Play
WQXA-FM 105.7 The X will host the 12th annual People’s Pay 4 Play today through tomorrow, Nov. 9 at 9 a.m. Listeners can call 1-800-332-1057 to make a donation and request a song to be played. The further the request is from the station’s rock-and-roll format, the higher the required donation. Listeners can also donate at CMNHershey.org. The event has raised more than $1.4 million in the past 11 years for Children’s Miracle Network.
Battlefield to Bedside
Dr. Scott Armen, chief of the Division of Trauma, Acute Care and Critical Care Surgery at Hershey Medical Center and professor of surgery and neurosurgery at Penn State College of Medicine, will present “From the Battlefield to Bedside: Lessons Learned from the Global War on Terror”:

Lift the Mask
The Doctors Kienle Center for Humanistic Medicine and the Department of Psychiatry will present a free film about mental health and suicide prevention with the Hershey We Matter Coalition:
- “Lift the Mask: Portraits of Life with Mental Illness”

After the screening, people who are featured in the film, the Quell Foundation president and Penn State Health experts on mental health will participate in a panel discussion and question-and-answer session. Register on Eventbrite.
Facility Dog Stuffed Animal Sale
The Child Life Program at Penn State Health Children’s Hospital will offer plush facility dog stuffed animals for sale in support of the Child Life Gift Fund:
