In case you missed it: Watch closed-captioned replay of the Feb. 2 Penn State Health town hall

Penn State Health’s vaccine mandate and continued growth were among the top topics discussed during the health system’s Feb. 2 virtual town hall.
David Swift, senior vice president and chief human resources officer, emphasized the Monday, Feb. 28 deadline for all employees, students, vendors, contractors and volunteers to be fully vaccinated or granted a qualifying accommodation.
Swift reminded employees to ensure that they have submitted all necessary information through ReadySet for compliance.

To date, 98% of employees have met the Jan. 28 deadline to have at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine or have filed a request for a medical or religious accommodation, and 93.8% of employees are fully compliant ahead of the Feb. 28 deadline.
Steve Massini, Penn State Health chief executive officer, shared that, after hitting a pandemic high of 266 in mid-January, the census of COVID-positive patients in the health system’s four hospitals is now less than half of that. The number of employees who are COVID-19 positive and in isolation has also dropped significantly—now at 86—from a high of 478 about a month ago.
In non-COVID-19 news, Massini highlighted recent accomplishments at the health system’s four hospitals and the opening of the Women and Babies Center at Hampden Medical Center and the new electrophysiology lab at St. Joseph Medical Center. He also provided an update on the construction of both the Lancaster Pediatric Center and Lancaster Medical Center, which are on track to be completed later this year. He also shared the health system’s progress in its strategic journey with Highmark.
During the latter half of the meeting, leaders answered some of the more than 140 questions sent by staff before or during the town hall.
