MD/PhD program hosts three summer students from honors college
Penn State College of Medicine’s MD/PhD Medical Scientist Training Program hosted three students during its 2021 Schreyer Honors College MD/PhD Summer Exposure Program.
The Medical Scientist Training Program runs the 10-week summer exposure program for outstanding students in the Schreyer Honors College who are interested in becoming physician-scientists.
Participants spend 10 weeks working in a biomedical research laboratory at the College of Medicine under the guidance of a faculty member on the MD/PhD training faculty, and also shadow a physician during a once-weekly clinical exposure session.
The 2021 participants were:
- Kady Dennis, a biochemistry and molecular biology student from Bensalem, Pa. Dennis conducted research in the lab of George-Lucian Moldovan, PhD, and attended clinic with Christa Grant, MD.
- Peter Forstmeier, a biochemistry and molecular biology student from Bellefonte, Pa. Forstmeier conducted research in the lab of Aron Lukacher, MD, PhD, and attended clinic with Matthew Coates, MD, PhD.
- Emma Raich, a biomedical engineering integrated undergraduate-graduate student from Camp Hill, Pa. Raich conducted research in the lab of Steven Hicks, MD, PhD, and attended clinic with Christa Grant, MD and Kerstin Bettermann, MD, PhD.
