New class of MD/PhD students begins clinician scientist journey at College of Medicine
Penn State College of Medicine’s MD/PhD Medical Scientist Training Program welcomed five new first-year medical students during the 31st annual White Coat Ceremony held on Friday, July 31.
The White Coat Ceremony is an important milestone for MD students, as they are welcomed into the profession and presented with their first white coats. During the ceremony, they are asked to renew their commitment to professionalism and humanism in the practice of medicine.
The new MD/PhD trainees are:
- Susana Agyako-Wiredu from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County
- Elisabeth Groff from Penn State
- Alvi Khan from City University of New York, Baruch College
- Tyler Myers from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville
- Dylan Rothbort from Haverford College
The MD/PhD Medical Scientist Training Program is supported by a grant from the National Institutes of Health and trains the next generation of clinician scientists interested in pursuing careers in biomedical research and academic medicine.
