Micro pulse survey will measure progress toward fiscal year 2023 organizational employee goal

Penn State Health will distribute a micro pulse survey about employee engagement, diversity and the culture of safety to randomly selected employees across the organization Feb. 6-17. The 18-question survey is part of Penn State Health’s listening strategy for employee feedback to support the health system’s overall employee engagement strategy.

The fiscal year 2023 employee organization goal is to improve employee engagement while continuing our commitment to our diversity and inclusion efforts. Specifically, Penn State Health wants to improve the employee engagement indicator for employees, physicians, advanced practice providers and racial/ethnic minority employees and physicians. The micro pulse survey in February will measure our progress within these groups.

Important details about the micro pulse survey:

  • Randomly selected Penn State Health employees, physicians, and advanced practice providers — inclusive of appropriate ethnic minority demographics in each — will be emailed a unique link to provide feedback.
    • Note: Lancaster Medical Center employees will not participate in the micro pulse survey, but will conduct a culture of safety survey in the near future.
  • Results will be at the entity level rather than individual departments. Penn State Health will offer two more engagement surveys to all employees throughout 2023 — a pulse survey conducted mid-year and a full survey late in the calendar year.

In addition to the engagement goals, the fiscal year 2023 organizational employee goal also includes providing education for patient-facing team members on culturally responsive care for patients with disabilities. The Penn State Health Office for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion will roll out the ADEPT-CARE Protocol during the 2023 annual training cycle. The ADEPT-CARE Protocol is a nine-step framework for identifying and addressing disability-related health care needs. Watch The RITE Stuff for additional information.
