MPH student presents at FDA workshop
Paul Kocis, PharmD, RPh, CACP, a student in the Master of Public Health (MPH) Program at Penn State College of Medicine, presented at a March 2016 FDA workshop.
Kocis spoke at the public workshop “Point of Care Prothrombin Time/International Normalized Ratio Devices for Monitoring Warfarin Therapy” on March 18, 2016.
Dr. Kocis has been a clinical pharmacist at the Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center Anti-Coagulation Clinic. His research interests include the real-world use of the Point of Care (POC) warfarin INR monitoring device and Time in Therapeutic Range (TTR) for the traditional warfarin patient; and the Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) and Total Artificial Heart (TAH) patients treated with warfarin.
Kocis is certified as an Anticoagulation Care Provider (CACP) by the National Certification Board for Anticoagulation Providers and has professional memberships with the American College of Clinical Pharmacy, American Heart Association, Pennsylvania Pharmacists Association, and the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis.
After having recently completed the Graduate Certificate in Clinical Research at Penn State College of Medicine, Kocis went on to enroll in the Master of Public Health (MPH) Program in the biostatistics and epidemiology track.
