Passley-Clarke recognized as Black History Month Trailblazer

Janet Passley-Clarke, a psychiatry nurse practitioner at Pennsylvania Psychiatric Institute and assistant professor at Penn State College of Medicine, is being honored as a trailblazer within the Penn State Health system and beyond.
During Black History Month, Penn State Health and Penn State College of Medicine employees nominated outstanding colleagues who identify as Black or African American and stand out as trailblazers. A committee from the Multicultural Business Employee Resource Group (BERG) reviewed the nominations and selected Passley-Clarke as the 2025 honoree.
Passley-Clarke, who holds both a doctor of nursing practice degree and a doctorate in nursing education, is an advanced practice manager and outpatient provider at Pennsylvania Psychiatric Institute. An advocate for psychiatric advanced practice, she serves as a preceptor and mentor to advanced practice provider students. She is also vice chair of diversity, equity and inclusion for the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at Penn State Health.
Passley-Clarke serves the local community as a board member of the Messiah University Nursing Advisory Council and an active member of the Dauphin County Pharmacy and Therapeutics Review Committee. She serves at the state and national levels as a member of the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association Bylaws Committee, American Nurses Association Minority Fellowship Program National Advisory Committee and American Psychiatric Nurses Association Recovery Council Steering Committee.
Passley-Clarke continually seeks growth opportunities. She recently completed the Crucial Conversations for Mastering Dialogue course from Penn State Health’s Human Resources Learning and Organizational Development team.
