Peace Tree lighting ceremony Friday celebrates hope and unity
The Association of Faculty and Friends (AFF) of Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and Penn State College of Medicine presents the annual lighting of the Peace Tree this Friday, Nov. 9 at 5:30 p.m. in the lobby of the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.
All employees, faculty members, students, patients and volunteers are invited to attend. The tree is decorated with lights to remember and honor loved ones. Because candles are not permitted in the hospital, participants will be invited to shine their cell phones during a moment of silence to spread to spread the message that Penn State Health and College of Medicine community stand for hope, healing, unity, inclusion and peace.
“When you work in a health care environment such as ours, every day brings joy, hope, heartache and challenges,” said Dr. Craig Hillemeier, dean, College of Medicine; CEO, Penn State Health; and senior vice president for health affairs, Penn State. “As we approach the holiday season, I invite you to come together to celebrate all that is so inspiring about the Penn State Health and College of Medicine family.
“Respect and dignity for all people are our foundation.”
