Penn State College of Medicine Department of Humanities accepting entries for 2023 issue of Wild Onions

Wild Onions, the Department of Humanities annual journal of creative writing, art and photography, seeks submissions for publication consideration for their 2023 issue. We invite faculty and staff (both clinical and nonclinical), patients, families, students and volunteers to submit their original creative writing, artwork and photography that has not been previously published.
The theme for the 2023 issue is Growth and Regeneration. Growth can mean evolving in some way, stirring pleasure or pain, whether visible or hidden. After enduring a season of adversity and loss, we may discover new resilience – ready for regeneration – like perennials in spring. Most entries pertain to some dimension of medicine, but submissions on all topics are welcome.
Five entries are accepted per category – art, creative writing and photography. Please fill out the online form and upload your files. If you are submitting original artwork and don’t have a high-resolution image to share, drop off your artwork at the Humanities Department, room C1747P. Include your name, credentials, contact information, title of artwork and the medium used.
The deadline to submit your work is Jan. 15.
Judges’ choice awards will be given in art, creative writing and photography in the following categories: student/resident, faculty and other healthcare providers, patients, staff and family members.
