Penn State Health cited as one of America’s Greatest Workplaces for Culture and Belonging

For the second consecutive year, Newsweek has named Penn State Health as one of “America’s Greatest Workplaces for Culture, Belonging and Community.” The annual independent ranking recognizes workplaces where diversity and inclusion are respected and valued.

“We are grateful to be recognized as a workplace where employees are engaged and feel valued for the diverse talents and backgrounds they bring to Penn State Health,” said Ipalla Cooke, workforce analytics program director in the Office of Health Advancement and Community Engagement.

“That welcoming environment extends to our patients, ensuring they receive culturally sensitive care. That focus can have a positive effect on health and wellness,” Cooke said.

Our Business Employee Resource Group networking events bring together employees from different locations, departments, roles and backgrounds to get to know each other better.

To develop what has become one of the largest independent U.S. employee studies, Newsweek and Plant-A Insights Group, a data analytics and research firm, evaluated U.S. companies with more than 1,000 employees on public data, insights from human resources professionals and responses from an anonymous survey of diverse employees.

The 2026 national survey included more than 2.7 million company reviews from nearly 180,000 employees and incorporated earlier data from almost 5 million reviews and 400,000 interviews. The analysis considered factors such as leadership, integrity, compensation and work-life balance. Other companies recognized include American Express, Google and Starbucks.

Penn State Health also is included in the 2024 and 2025 Military Times Best for Vets lists, reflecting its commitment to hiring and supporting veterans and their families. In addition, the health system has been cited by Forbes for several years as one of America’s Best Employers by State and is also listed in Forbes’ 2025 America’s Best Employers For Healthcare Professionals and America’s Best Employers For Company Culture.
