Penn State Health launches new websites for health system, Children’s Hospital, Careers Nov. 1

Penn State Health will debut three new public-facing websites on Sunday, Nov. 1 ― one for the health system, one for Penn State Health Children’s Hospital and one for Penn State Health Careers. The Penn State Health and Children’s Hospital websites will feature patient-focused content designed to attract and build patient volume.
“Our new health system website will bring all our entities together onto one cohesive, easy-to-navigate platform,” said Dr. Robert Harbaugh, senior vice president of Penn State Health Medical Group and executive sponsor of the Website Steering Committee. “It will be structured around how people look for health care information and feature key content to help them make the decision to come to Penn State Health.”
Penn State Health currently maintains nine different websites, all with different branding and content, after acquiring St. Joseph Medical Center and other physician practices during the past five years. The new Penn State Health website will replace the existing websites and bring the information together under one umbrella.
Similar to other websites for university-affiliated health systems, services will be presented as Penn State Health rather than entity-specific services. Penn State Health’s web development team has created web pages for specific diseases and conditions that the health system’s providers treat and services it provides.
The revamped website will go live with more than 1,000 pages of content — not including physician and location data. Clinical content on the Penn State Health and Children’s Hospital websites will highlight:
- Providers’ expertise in the clinical area
- Technology available to diagnose and treat conditions
- Related research studies at Penn State College of Medicine
The web team will continue to upload additional content, images, videos and functionality in the months ahead. New features that will be added to physician profiles include:
- Best Doctors in America recognition
- Castle Connolly Top Doctors recognition
- Telehealth providers
- Pure profile links ― Penn State research portal
After the Nov. 1 launch, department managers who wish to update their public-facing web pages should fill out these forms:
Due to volume, changes can take up to five days to be made.
