Penn State Health marks Community Health Improvement Week 2022 June 5-11
Each year, Penn State Health celebrates Community Health Improvement Week June 5-11 by highlighting statistics related to community health initiatives each day.
This annual recognition week led by the American Hospital Association honors those who work to improve the health and well-being of individuals and communities and advance health equity.

In fiscal year 2021:
- Penn State Health hospitals contributed about $4.6 million toward community health improvement. Including COVID-19 community service, the number is $7 million.
- Employees across all Penn State Health hospitals and Penn State College of Medicine contributed more than 150,000 community benefit hours.
- Community partners and students contributed almost 37,000 community benefit hours.
- The health system served more than 554,000 people in its communities.
- The Community Benefit Inventory for Social Accountability (CBISA) tracked 276 community benefit programs supported by Penn State Health and the College of Medicine.
- The 216 Community Benefit Reporters across all Penn State Health hospitals and the College of Medicine reported employees participated in 1,331 community events
- Penn State Health completed its fourth Community Health Needs Assessment in 2021 and will launch its Implementation Plan on Friday, July 1.
