Peterson named director of Phase 3 UME-GME Transition
Dr. Brandon Peterson, co-vice chair of education for Penn State Heart and Vascular Institute, has been named director of the Phase 3 UME-GME Transition. This is a new position at Penn State College of Medicine, and Peterson began his work in this role on Jan. 1, 2022.
In his new role, Peterson will oversee the third and final phase of the medical student curriculum at the College of Medicine, which encompasses the integration and deepening of learning across four curriculum pillars: biomedical science, health humanities, clinical science and health systems science. He will work with students, course and program directors and faculty toward the success of the transition.
Peterson also serves as a co-director of the Cardio-Respiratory Medicine block for first-year medical students, as a course director representative on the Committee on Undergraduate Medical Education. He has received exceptional teacher recognitions during his time at the College of Medicine.
