Saying thanks

Penn State Health employees are performing exceptionally during an exceptional time, and your co-workers are taking notice. Here are a few of the emails we’ve received about our colleagues who have gone the extra mile. If you’d like to recognize someone, send it to news@pennstatehealth.psu.edu.

Michele Morrissey, director of operations, Dermatology and Ophthalmology, Hershey Medical Center
I would like to recognize the Employee Health team. They are spending hours on the phone screening our coworkers to ensure that we do our part to stop the spread.

Lori Bechtel, nurse manager, Employee Health Services, Hershey Medical Center
I want to recognize Jen Nichols in Operational Excellence. She has developed the database that Employee Health is using to track all the employee travel and quarantine requirements. Without this database, Employee Health would have no way to track all this information. This is an example of an excellent employee who has stepped up in their lane to help another area. We couldn’t be more grateful for her support and expertise. She continues to support us with changes and reports as need for the organization. Thanks, Jen!

Lynn Houser, team manager, Professional Commercial/Medicaid Accounts Receivable, Hershey Medical Center
I would like to recognize Rachel Amspacker, professional staff associate that works in Patient Financial Services. We were prepared with a Business Continuity Plan; however, to roll this out smoothly with “no bumps” was not a reality. Staff that were relocated and able to work remotely encounter numerous difficulties. IS was swamped and along came Rachel who has the technical know-how to get staff up and running so that they could continue with their assigned tasks. With her assistance, we had a very first productive day!! She went above and beyond to assist everyone on our teams, to the extent of into the evening! I cannot thank her enough and the KUDOS came from EVERYONE she encountered. Great job!!

I would like to recognize Megan Kean, senior coder/associate on the Patient Financial Services’ Professional Team. Her excellence in assisting staff to work remotely, along with keeping the work assignments going smoothly, made our first “remote” day very successful. Her dedication and excellence was over the top.

Michelle Rohde, clinical case manager, Anesthesia Clinic, Hershey Medical Center
I would like to recognize our hard-working and very patient Information Services department. They are “behind the scenes” but need to be showcased as a vital part of our hospital staff. Personally, I’d like to give a shout-out to both Sandra Adock and Pam Reifinger for getting my computer up and running so I can work remotely.

Kimberly Deyo, Human Resources Solution Center representative, Penn State Health Shared Services
I would like to recognize Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) team member Rachel Stull for jumping in with both feet to assist the HR Shared Solutions Team with the high call volume. Even though the rest of the HRIS team is working remote, Rachel is assisting Shared Services in-house to handle the high volume of calls we have been receiving during this time. She has been a real asset and truly exemplifies Penn State Health’s teamwork value. So very appreciated!

Monica Straub, supervisor, Pathology and Lab Medicine, Automated Testing Lab, Hershey Medical Center
Kudos to Jeri Anderson and Dr. Wallace Greene, Laboratory Virology Department, for doing such a great job during a monumental situation of epic proportions.

Robert Stauffer, practice site manager, Penn State Health Lime Spring Outpatient Center
Jenn Ginter, senior attending nurse for Lime Spring Adult Specialties, has been instrumental in our COVID-19 preparations and precautions. She has worked with all staff and coordinated activities and plans with the other departments in Lime Spring – Hematology/Oncology, Radiology, Pediatric Specialists, Therapy Services, Primary Care (Medical Group – Community Practice Division) and Internal Medicine (Community Practice Division). Jenn suggested a daily huddle with all leadership in Lime Spring to update each other on their activities, coordinate patient screening staffing, and review any new updates. Jenn is the source of information and direction for our staff and has been instrumental in providing education and guidance in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. On behalf of all of us in Lime Spring Specialties, I thank Jenn for her assistance and appreciate the leadership she has shown to her clinical staff.
