St. Joseph offers self-referral screening mammography

Penn State Health St. Joseph began offering the only no-referral-needed mammography service in Berks County on Sept. 2.
The new service is for patients due for a screening mammography but without a primary care physician to write the order. It is available by calling for an appointment or walking into either the Penn State Health Medical Group ― Exeter Ridge or Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center main campus locations.
Both locations offer the latest 3D mammogram technology, which can discover small abnormalities that may not be visible in a standard 2D mammogram. A screening mammogram looks for signs of cancer with the goal of detecting it as early as possible.
