Library supports students through personal librarian program
Harrell Health Sciences Library provides a personal librarian to all medical and graduate students of Penn State College of Medicine.
In their first year, each of these students is introduced to their personal librarian, who remains with them throughout their time at the College of Medicine.
A student’s personal librarian is a familiar face at the library who students can contact when they need assistance with library resources or services. This includes consultation or training on designing effective literature search strategies in the various databases to which the library provides access.
The personal librarian program is similar to library’s departmental liaison program, where Harrell Health Sciences Library librarian serves as liaison to multiple departments and areas of Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and the College of Medicine. Each student gets the same benefit of having a designated librarian ready to help with their individual information needs.
