Update Penn State Health Zoom client before May 30

With many employees, faculty and students working and learning remotely or in different work locations, Penn State Health and Penn State College of Medicine have been leveraging Penn State Health Zoom for virtual meetings, classes and other functions.

To ensure continued successful and optimal use of Penn State Health Zoom, it’s important that you update to version 5.0 prior to May 30. This job aid will walk you through the steps to update your Penn State Health Zoom client. If you do not complete this update before May 30, the update will be forced the first time you join a meeting on or after May 30.

Zoom version 5.0 comes with an updated encryption standard, as well as updates to:

  • End Meeting – hosts will now be required to assign a new host when leaving the meeting if the meeting is to continue without them. Additionally, the pop-up message asking if the host would like to leave or end the meeting will now be displayed by the Leave button.
  • Zoom Data Center – you can now see the Zoom Data Center to which you are connected by clicking the info icon at the top-left of the Zoom window.
