Wisecup recognized as February Physician of the Month

Dr. Kimberly Wisecup, of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Penn State Health Children’s Hospital, has been selected as Physician of the Month for February.
“Kim includes all parties in the interdisciplinary team in her decisions and direction of care … provides excellent care to her patients and offers excellent communication,” a nominator wrote. “Kim showcases excellent listening skills and a patience that is unprecedented. She is calm, goal-oriented, direct and polite with all her interactions, be it with peers, students, nurses or families. She embodies the RITE values of Penn State Health and is a more than deserving candidate for physician of the month.”
Wisecup started with Penn State Health as a fellow and accepted a position within the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in 2021. Her co-workers say she displays the same respect she had for her colleagues during her fellowship, with the fellows, residents and nurses she mentors.
They note that Wisecup is a team player, jumping in to soothe babies and comfort unhappy patients, and she uses her experience to guide the residents and fellows who are learning from her passion to care for others.
Wisecup received her medical degree from the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Touro University in New York. She is the physician lead for Bubble CPAP Quality Improvement; a staff member of the Graduate Medical Education Committee; and serves on the Respiratory Therapist-NICU Provider Collaboration Committee and Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia Quality Improvement Team.
The Physician of the Month award program recognizes physicians, including residents, who demonstrate outstanding performance, respect, integrity, team work and excellence in all their interactions with patients, families and colleagues.
Medical Center employees and faculty may nominate physicians, including residents, on the PAWS UP! Page, at any time. Awardees are selected monthly. Nominations that meet criteria, but are not selected for a monthly award, will remain in the candidate pool for monthly or yearly physician recognitions. Who will you nominate?
