Your opportunity to make a United difference starts Monday

Penn State Health and Penn State College of Medicine’s 2020 United Way campaign kicks off Monday, Oct. 12, and runs through Friday, Nov. 20.

The annual community fundraiser supports basic needs, school readiness, access to health care and workforce development.

“Now more than ever, our community needs United Way,” said Jim George, Penn State Health director of community relations. “Invest in its proven programs that improve lives and help individuals and families become self-sufficient.”

This year, instead of focusing on a dollar amount goal, Penn State Health and the College of Medicine will focus on increasing the percentage of employees who give to United Way. The easiest way to give is through a small payroll deduction. Employees can direct their pledges to a specific nonprofit organization or to United Way’s general campaign.

  • Penn State Health employees will be able to access the United Way system and make a pledge or donation online beginning Oct. 12.
  • College of Medicine employees and faculty will receive their pledge form in an email from Dr. Kevin Black, College of Medicine interim dean, and Steve Massini, Penn State Health CEO, on Oct. 12. After completing the form, they should save and email it to UnitedWayPayroll@psu.edu.

Give and receive

Participants who make a pledge/contribution of $182 per year will be eligible to win one of United Way of the Capital Region’s raffle prizes:

  • A new 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer donated by Turner Automotive. Approximate value: $22,990
  • $1,500 AAA Travel giveaway for a cruise or tour of your choice
  • $1,500 in groceries from Giant Food Stores
  • $1,000 Visa gift card from Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospitals
