Zheng receives prestigious grant from American Cancer Society
Dr. Hong Zheng, associate professor of medicine, microbiology and immunology, was recently recognized by the Department of Medicine for receiving the prestigious Research Scholar Grant from the American Cancer Society (ACS).
The grant, totaling nearly $800,000 over the next four years, will support the research of Zheng’s team on generating a novel graft-vs. leukemia model in humanized mice to define the mechanisms that mediate anti-leukemia immunity and develop effective treatment for leukemia relapse post allogeneic stem cell transplantation.
Research Scholar Grants provide support for independent, self-directed researchers and clinician scientists who are investigators licensed to provide patient care and trained to conduct research, according to the ACS website.
Zheng is a member of the department’s Division of Hematology and Oncology as well as the Penn State Cancer Institute.
