Harrell Library recommends ERIC database for medical education research
ERIC (Education Resource Information Center) is an essential database for those searching for medical education literature, according to the librarians at Harrell Health Sciences Library.
It is an online database of education research and information from the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) of the U.S. Department of Education. The library’s primary access to Eric is through the provider ProQuest’s platform, but there are several available platforms. These include free and direct access from IES. ERIC includes literature from 1966 to present and indexes more than 1,000 journals, along with more than 350,000 additional resources (including books, conference papers and reports), many of which are not included in PubMed/Medline.
The default search interface is very basic; however, this is a very powerful database that utilizes both keyword searching and indexed thesaurus terms. Some of the key thesaurus terms in medical and health sciences education include:

Utilizing ERIC’s advanced search option can make this an even more powerful search. Results can be edited down by publication date, document type, language, publication title, subject area and education level. These valuable limits can help users narrow down their searches to a usable set of citations.
