Medical Center and Teamsters reach three-year agreement for 2013-2016

Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and Teamsters Local 776 have reached a new three-year collective bargaining agreement, effective July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2016.  The Medical Center's Teamster-represented employees today ratified the tentative agreement, which covers approximately 900 Medical Center employees who work in various fields including food services, patient transport, housekeeping, facilities and other technical services.

“This agreement recognizes the important contributions of our Teamster-represented staff.  It is positive for our employees and those we serve,” said Alan Brechbill, executive director of Penn State Hershey Medical Center. “This multi-year contract provides competitive wages and benefits for our employees and ensures our continued focus on our missions of patient care, research, education, and service to our community.”

The new agreement provides guaranteed wage increases for employees in each of the three contract years. It also provides significant market-based increases for employees in technical trade positions to help the Medical Center better recruit and retain these positions. The agreement maintains competitive wages for all employees and limits the percentage of health care cost sharing they will experience over the next three years.
